Prawniee..
Friday met up with didi for dinner. Going out with didi is always so fun since he is always so 'onz'. We went all the way to Changi Village to have dinner because he missed the famous wanton mee over there. Thereafter, decided to go ESCAPE theme park at Pasir Ris to play the rides. When we reached there, we realised it is opened only on weekends! Grr.
Since it was still early, we wandered around Pasir Ris park to find the mysterious spot for fishing that was reported on the New Paper that day. Not being able to find it, we managed to 'strayed' to the fishing pond opposite Pasir Ris MRT. Since we decided that there's nothing much to do if we go home then, we decided to try out 'Prawn Fishing'!! To make it more fun, we compete with one another to see how many each of us can catch.
Well, it seems the prawn fishing doesn't really uses any special equipment. A fishing rod and a hook that looks like any other normal fishing hook.
Then comes the part on the bait. The uncle advised us to use sea worms because it will be easier to catch prawns as the worm won't fall off the hook easily. In the end, we used the provided fish cake because we felt that it was too disgusting to handle the worms (Need to hook the slightly hairy red sea worm on the hook with bare hands. Yucks. Imagine cutting one into half and blackish fluid flows out of the cut segment.) and we need to pay an extra amount to buy the worms! Guess what! Using the fish cake was a bad choice! Though it was free, I feel it was much more disgusting that the worms. The fish cake was finely diced into cubes and worst thing was, it was fermented! (To be 'smelly' enough to attract the prawns?) Just smelling my fingers after touching it was like smelling sh*t on your hands!! YUCKS!
Our prawn fishing wasn't a successful one though. As you can see on the 2nd pic, our combine effort only garner us those pathetic 5 prawns.

In order to maximise the our time there, in the last 20 mins, we went to share some worms with a more experience prawn fisher. And yup, in the desperate attempt to catch more prawns, I decided to 'sacrifice' to hooked the worms as the bait. Haha.
For 5 prawns, didi and I paid $14.50 each. Equivalent to around $6 a prawn!! Haha. Well, it was fun for me though. And yup! I won! LOLX. 4 Vs 1!! =P Didi now owes me a meal. Hoho.
I want to try it some time again! Anyone out there interested? Lolx.
